ChatGPT and other Artificial Intelligence programs

A place for information about ChatGPT and eventually, policy.

Programs like ChatGPT may present ethical concerns but some are better than others.  This list contains other AI programs that are gaining traction.  The first two, Semantic Scholar and Elicit, use public domain resources such as Google scholar as well as private publishing partnerships to provide information on over 200 million academic papers.  This is exactly what you should be using AI for.

Semantic Scholar:  Semantic Scholar provides free, AI-driven search and discovery tools, and open resources for the global research community.  They index over 200 million academic papers sourced from publisher partnerships, data providers, and web crawls.

Elicit:  Elicit uses language models to help you automate research workflows, like parts of literature review.  Elicit can find relevant papers without perfect keyword match, summarize takeaways from the paper specific to your question, and extract key information from the papers.  It uses the Semantic Scholar database.

Connected Papers:  Uses the Semantic Scholar dataset to show relationships between academic papers in a visual format.

Bard:  This is the Google AI.  Do not be misled by the fact that it is Google.  It is not searching the internet for your answer.  It is using the data that was loaded into it.

Perplexity:  This is similar to other well-known answer bots like Alexa and Siri.

Forefront:  This seems to work a lot like Chat-GPT.

MusicLM:  Generates music from text.  MusicLM is a text-based AI model that revolutionizes the world of music generation and composition. Developed using state-of-the-art artificial intelligence architecture, MusicLM can create original music across various genres and styles based on text prompts. The hyperlink in the title takes you to the 'Try it out' page, but this one takes you to some information.
