When I first decided to teach college History, I struggled with finding work. I discovered the West Texas Historical Association and thought that networking and making friends in the business would help so I decided to do a presentation. It was a terrific idea. I had a job before I left the conference, but I also discovered how much I enjoy presenting at conferences. I have presented at WTHA every year since, barring COVID.
