Welcome to the Golemon Library

Ranger College and Golemon Library are an integral part of the City of Ranger and Eastland County.  Our satellite campuses in Stephenville and Brownwood are also important parts of our family.  We are glad to be here and want to be a part of your lives.

Most library services are available to residents of Eastland, Erath, and Brown Counties.  This includes checkouts, computers, and research help.  We also have meeting rooms and quiet spaces. This is a terrific place to hold your club or committee meeting.  Just ask people in the Eastland County Historical Commission, the Ranger Historical Preservation Society, or the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Picketville Chapter.

As a member of TexShare, lending privileges are extended to TexShare card holders from the entire state.  We also provide interlibrary loan service to get the material to you.

The Library offers several subscription databases, including TexShare, a program offering a variety of database services to Texas citizens.  While much of this subscription content is available at Golemon Library, the local user may encounter items that are not.   Please check with a librarian for alternative methods of access.

The library offers many events every semester that are free and available to all members of the public.  Our activities are complete for Fall 2024, but we are gearing up for Srping 2025.

Be sure to check out our What to Do This Weekend page, which offers links to many exciting events within a three-hour drive of Ranger.

Golemon Library is also a repository for Ranger and Ranger College history.  Our Repository contains College yearbooks and newspapers and the Gallery of Ranger Alumni as well as decades of Ranger Times.  Our Texas Collection has a strong foundation in oil history and we have copies of all the books about Ranger.  Our Robert E. Howard collection is the second largest in the world and contains many items not found elsewhere.  Our librarians are some of the most prominent local historians in the county, serving on a variety of boards and committees.
